(PRWeb UK) June 15, 2010

Autographs Store has been slowly swelling its stock of high end autographs for a while. Those autographs are starting to emerge on the company’s site, either ready to buy or with tantalising banners informing hungry signature hunters that stock will be available soon. Cricket autographs from England’s shock 20Twenty winning team are shortly to be winging their way to the Sittingbourne headquarters of Britain’s most trusted signature store; as are a new lot of golf autographs and boxing autographs.

There’s plenty of scope for speculation in the golf autographs section – his career might go either way, but just how much is a new Tiger Woods signature going to be worth? And what about the future? Whichever golfer comes out on top as the “new” Tiger Woods is going to have to represented – indeed, whoever that is, his signature may already be somewhere in Autographs Store’s stocks. As far as golf autographs go, the Kent based stockists are well aware that the sport is in autograph hunting turmoil and are bringing in extra stocks accordingly. Now is the time for autograph enthusiasts to speculate on the next big thing (whose signature, of course, will be worth plenty of money) – and that speculation will be done in ready cash through the Autographs Store site.

Boxing autographs, though already extremely well represented, are slated for a stock up, with new signatures, photos and signed souvenir items ready to be revealed over the next few weeks. Like their cricket autographs, Autographs Store’s boxing autographs represent one of the cornerstones of their business: a founding strand in a now multi faceted empire. As savvy now as when they started, the folks at Autographs Store know they need to keep up good supplies of new stock in boxing autographs and cricket autographs (not as easy to do that as, say, with football autographs, where players are transferred all the time) in order to retain their original fan base. In light of which, their original fan base can expect new stock lines of boxing and cricket memorabilia to go with the souvenirs already listed.

The addition of a stellar roster of film autographs cements the company in real terms as a force to be reckoned with. While their other signed pieces are sensationally impressive, Autographs Store’s new stock of film autographs takes on every genre, every level of fame (from all-time greats like Michael Caine and Al Pacino to newcomers Adrian Brody, Christian Bale and Zac Efron) and every type of interest in the medium. Whether collectors of film autographs are in it for the money, the looks (Angeline Jolie, anyone?) or just good old Hollywood obsession, Autographs Store can provide. And that proves they’ve landed for real.

Autographs-store is a Kent based sports memorabilia warehouse, supplying autographed sports, celebrity, TV and film memorabilia.

###

Simply put, a hybrid club is a fairway wood that is smaller in size, and numbered like an iron. They are designed to take the place of long irons, and have lofts in the 18 degree to 30 degree range. Because of the wider sole and lower center of gravity advantage of hybrids, they end up being easier to hit than their respective irons. You would replace your irons with hybrids in the following fashion…

2 Iron – 17-19 degrees – 2 Hybrid (similar to a #5 wood)3 Iron – 20-22 degrees – 3 Hybrid (similar to a #7 wood)4 Iron – 23-25 degrees – 4 Hybrid (similar to a #9 wood)5 Iron – 26-28 degrees – 5 Hybrid6 Iron – 29-31 degrees – 6 Hybrid

There are some manufacturers who make hybrid clubs all the way down to the wedges. These are useful for golfers who never take a divot and have a hard time getting the ball airborne. If this describes you, and you pick the ball cleanly with a sweeping stroke, then you are a great candidate for hybrid clubs-the more, the better. Try to keep at least one blade style wedge in your bag, though, as the wider soled hybrid clubs are difficult to lay open for high lofted flop shots.

Hybrid-type clubs have actually been around for many years, when you consider the Taylor Made Raylor clubs of the 1980′s. These were smaller low-profile metalwoods in 16 and 19 degree lofts, but they were marketed as fairway woods, and the lofts never got higher. Callaway introduced a wonderful “Heavenwood” in the early 1990′s that featured a 7-wood loft with a 4-wood length. This was also marketed as a fairway wood only.

The recent success of hybrid clubs has come from the numbering, and the marketing as long iron replacements. As the chart above shows, a #7 wood would be similar to a #3 hybrid, but there is a certain stigma that comes from carrying a higher numbered wood, especially a #9 or #11 wood. Most golfers wouldn’t want to be seen with such amateur-type clubs. But a lower numbered 3 or 4 hybrid is more dignified, especially on tour, so now we are seeing hybrids in almost every golfers set.

When it comes to buying golf balls, it’s best to keep things simple. In this article you will learn about golf ball construction. This knowledge will help you make the best buying decision.

In general, there are three major ball types available on the market today. Keep reading to find out what they are designed to achieve and what type you should use to lower your total score.

- 2 Piece Golf Balls

All the leading manufacturers produce this type of golf ball and it makes up a hefty portion of the market. The cover is usually a type of special plastic called ionomer. Inside is a large, solid rubber core.

The performance of the finished 2 piece ball can be altered in three ways: by changing the softness of the cover, the hardness and the size of the core.

This ball is usually used for distance. In the past, they had hard covers and cores. This resulted in lower spin and consequently more distance, for the most part through increased roll. Today, these balls are not as hard but they still provide good distance advantage as well as great cover resistance to cutting.

These lower side spinning balls have fast but soft cores. They are very good for golfers with slower swing speeds. Who else can benefit from them? Novice golfer and people with higher handicap.

- 3 Piece Golf Balls

This type of golf ball has been created about 15 years ago. There is a plastic or urethane cover. Under it, there is a thin layer of a plastic-like substance. A large, solid rubber core is in the center. You can also find a double or “dual core” designs.

Thanks to this design, the golf ball engineers can fine tune the finished ball performance. All they have to do is adjust the size, hardness, and thickness of the cover, layer and core. Most professional golfers and low handicap people use this ball these days.

- 3 Piece “Wound” Golf Balls

This golf ball was standard until the mid 1990′s. It had a small solid or liquid filled center. It was surrounded by tightly wrapped rubber thread. This wound center was then enclosed in a cover of urethane, synthetic rubber or plastic.

This type of ball is much more expensive to produce than the other two types. Additionally, engineers have been able to improve on the performance of these balls with new materials used in the 2 piece and 3 piece designs.

Now you will learn what is the best ball for you based on your current level of play. When deciding the correct type of ball, the crucial factor you must take into account is “will this golf ball help improve my game.”

You need to fight back any temptation to use a ball just because a great golf player plays that particular ball. Or because somebody at your club prefers a certain type of ball. So let’s choose the right ball for your level of play:

1. The Beginner Golfer

You fall into this category if you are just starting to play or are inconsistent player. Approximately 25 percent of recreational golfers fall in this group. It means that your handicap is above 25 and your score is usually 105 or even greater for 18 holes.

You should use a lower spinning, 2-piece golf ball. If a lot of ball speed is generated after hitting the ball hard, go for a low spin 2-P ball. If you have a slow swing speed, choose the softer compression 2 piece balls.

Keep in mind to read the package when buying golf balls. Look for claims such as “low spin”, “low initial driver spin”, “low spin distance ball”, or “long and soft”.

2. The Intermediate Golfer

You fall into this category if you experience sporadic “big number”. Your scores typically range from the high 80′s to the mid 90′s and you want to be more consistent and shoot in the 80′s and start to move towards the 70′s.

If you hit the ball fairly straight or have a predictable shot pattern, you should use a medium spin 2 or 3 piece ball. On the other hand, continue using a lower spinning 2-piece ball if your shot pattern is unpredictable.

3. The Skilled Golfer

You are an ‘expert’ golfer who can handle most aspects of the golf game. You have control of your swing and hit the ball with authority and consistency. Your score is in the 70′s and low 80′s and your handicap is less than 12.

Your best option is a ball that is long off the tee but offers the feel you want for the shots around the green and putting. You should only use a 3-Piece performance ball.

Two additional tips for all three categories: 1. Play at least three full rounds with a specific ball type to find out its effect on your game. 2. Keep game improvement as your most important consideration when choosing a golf ball.

The history of men’s golf clothing goes back long before the days when Plus Fours were all the rage and Tam O’Shanters were de rigueur. Mary Queen of Scots was known to enjoy a game at the Musselburgh Links as long ago as 1567.

Traditional tweeds and woolens were functional, smart and warm to withstand the ever changeable British climate. Today things are much different, the latest manufactured fabrics can withstand the harshest weather and still keep you dry inside and out, warm or ventilated or all of the above! Lightweight, breathable, Gortex, Teflon coated are just some of the many descriptions given to golf clothing for all.

Golf apparel for men, women and children can be purchased from Golf Professional shops, sports shops and even online. With budgets to suit most, golf attire has never been more available and attainable. Branded articles allow you to support the Golf manufacturer you favour or even the golfer. Many Tour Professionals these days now sport their own label clothing.

Men’s golf clothing has seen many a change in style over the years, but players such as Ian Poulter, Tiger Woods and Greg Norman have stylized the game ensuring you must not only play well but be seen in only the most fashionable golf clothing to be really idolized. Their ranges of Men’s golf clothing show their personality and their sense of style, some much more traditional than others; Ian Poulter’s Union Jack trousers certainly got him in the press even if the standard of his golf at the time wasn’t that noticeable. The Ladies too have their icons, Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel and Natalie Gulbis, stride out on the course wearing not only functional pieces but also golf clothing you too would want to be seen in. Rightly or wrongly this game is becoming ever more popular with the masses, non golf Sports personalities are playing golf as a way of relaxing away from their own field of expertise, Celebrities are enjoying the quiet time of playing 18 holes without being pestered by paparazzi and it seems many people from all walks of life are taking up the gentlemanly game as a way to get some exercise and some fresh air. Golf has never been so popular. And fashion has never been more key in golf clothing, whether it’s Men’s, Ladies or Junior’s, we all want to look the part.

The market for golf equipment and accessories certainly has become big business and even a fashion or status show. Professional shops at the golf courses that you may visit may often appear to a novice golfer more like high fashion showrooms with every conceivable upgrade, extras and more to go. Your own budget when it comes to your hobby or golf as a pastime or endeavor will determine what you can buy, but even if you have scads of money to spend it never hurts to be on the cautious side, be somewhat wary and choose and ponder your golfing purchases and acquisitions carefully.

In terms of equipping yourself to play the game and sport of golf, the arguments can be said to be the same with any other sport or pastime. There is no or little point in getting more than you need when starting off as a novice or beginner golfer, until the point arrives that you come to the decision that you are most serious of the game and pastime of golf and golfing. At the same time you ultimately want to make sure that everything you do buy is going to be used enough to justify your expenditures.

However most important of all, you must insure that what you buy is right and correct for you as a golfer, suits your physique and style of play and actually helps you overall with your game and games of golf rather than being a hindrance .

This can be particularly important when you come to choose your clubs. It s far better to hire – or of you are lucky and comfortable enough to borrow a set- or a few clubs to get the real feel of them before you commit yourself to the major purchase of buying your set or sets of golfing equipment. Since he high end golf clubs and equipment can be a relatively expensive set of expenditures, you will be less than happy if you discover, after buying a new set, that for example that either the weight or length of the golfing hardware – in this case the golf clubs- is just not right – does not feel perfectly right or correct for you. Although certain modifications can be made to golf clubs these modifications are not only time consuming during the golfing season, but in addition will involve additional as well as ultimately unnecessary expenditures.

On the one hand it never hurts to be conservative and careful in purchasing golf equipment when you first take up the sport. On the other hand it can be said that golf is a difficult enough game without hindering yourself and your golf game with poor equipment. Some initial golfers go as far in their thrift and uncertainty that they will even play with sets put together with left over clubs and equipment from thrift stores, garage sales and the like. Talk about unmatched golfing equipment causing inconsistent results and much frustration. Again it can be said that golf is a difficult enough game without causing you unnecessary frustrations with poor golf and golfing equipment.

In summary it can be said when it comes to choosing your first set of golf clubs it never hurts to err on the side of caution and trial. If you are even serious about trying or taking up the game of golf it is far better to buy the correct set of golf clubs for you and your golfing styles in the first place. Often this can be your club professional who can prove over the many enjoyable golfing to come to be a trusted ally, friend as well as golfing adviser.

Cure that golf hook

A badly sliced drive is among the most common bad shots by weekend golfers. It causes a player much frustration and angst — not to mention lost balls and lost strokes on the scorecard. A badly hooked drive can be just as bad. What happens?

You step up to the tee and hit your drive. The ball takes off on a badly curving trajectory to the left. It ends up in the rough, or even the woods. If it lands in the fairway it rolls along a curing path sharply to the left. What is wrong? How can you cure that golf hook?

What causes a hooked golf ball? Excessive counter-clockwise ball spin

Consider what happens in slow motion. The clubface cuts across the ball on a sharp path from inside the target line causing the ball to spin in a counter-clockwise direction. The aerodynamics of this ball spin causes the hook.

Why does a counter-clockwise spinning golf ball go to the left?

As the ball spins, the airflow on the left side of the ball is faster than on the right side. The faster velocity on the left side of the ball causes a decrease in air pressure resulting pulling the ball to the left. This is the same principle that causes lift on an airplane wing.

You can see this principle at work in ping-pong, Strike the ball with a sharp inside-out motion and watch the ball curve to the left. When it bounces on the table watch it bounce sharply to the left.

A sliced golf ball is caused by excessive spin in the opposite (clockwise) direction, it is just the opposite of a hook. In a slice, the ball spins to the right (clockwise) causing a lift force on the right side of the ball that pulls the ball into a slice.

How to cure a golf hook

The root cause of the bad hook — a sharp inside-out strike on the ball — needs to be changed. The plane of the swing needs to aligned with the target. Check the alignment of your feet. Make sure your feet are in line with the target. A slightly “closed” stance may work — it may impart a slight fade to the ball. An excessively closed stance will likely lead to a bad hook.

When you tee up the ball, is it placed opposite your left foot (for right-handed golfers)? If so move the ball a couple inches to the right.

Check your grip. Make sure your hands are firmly but not tightly gripping the handle and that the clubhead is aligned along the target line.

As you start your downswing be sure to lead with your hips, pulling your core and shoulders along. Shift your weight to your left foot, and most important — don’t let the clubface get ahead of your hands.

Do golf warm-up exercises before you tee off at the first tee — or on the driving range. This will stretch your muscles and loosen you up. Practice your swing changes at the driving range.

Additional help is available to help you fix your golf swing

Articles, instructional materials, DVDs, drills and more are available to assist you in every part of your golf game. Produced by seasoned golf instructors, they are designed for golfers just like you. Listen to their advice and tips. Practice, practice, practice — and you will fix your golf swing.

Get rid of that bad hook and enjoy your game!

Each chapter of the book is the equivalent of taking a private lesson from a teaching professional. This lesson on the golf grip is forty-seven pages long and uses eighty-eight color photographs to explain the golf grip and the process of establishing the golf grip. Where and how to place the golf club grip in the left palm and where in the fingers of the right hand is fully explained and shown in detail using color photographs and step-by-step instructions. The overlapping, interlocking and baseball grips are discussed and illustrated so that you can try each grip and decide for yourself which grip is best for you. Instruction on topics such as: grip pressure, should you wear a golf glove, how to prevent your thumbs from slipping off the golf club grip during the golf swing, how to prevent the club from slipping out of your hands during the golf swing round out the chapter.

The Modified Left-Hand Grip

Typically, the left-hand grip is taught as a palm grip. However, it doesn’t necessarily have to be. This section explains how to modify the left-hand grip so that it is more of a finger grip. Tom Watson offers similar instruction in his book, The Timeless Swing, pages twenty-two and twenty-three. He holds the club a little more in the palm than what is offered in this book. It’s worthwhile to know about these grips.

Simulating the Position of the Forearm, Wrist, and Hand

Once you know how to grip a golf club, with your elbows on the table and using an old club that is cut off just below the grip or a piece of wooden dowel of similar size and length, you can see and feel how the hands, wrists, and forearms interact with each other. While cocking and uncocking your wrists, you can feel and see how the forearms rotate and what the hand and wrist positions should be at the top of the backswing. This is a very useful exercise and one that gives great insight to the position you are striving to achieve at the top of the backswing.

A Final Thought

“Important is the golf grip. More important is hand action. Having a good golf grip does not guarantee good hand action. The golf grip is a prerequisite to learning the hand action of the golf swing.”

- The Author, James Lythgoe
